Run
Comments: Overall, I was surprised at how decent I felt. My legs were lead, but the rest of me felt fine. The course was fairly flat except for about a quarter mile of the dreaded "High Street Hill." What would you do differently?: Not much. I have the fitness level now to do a decent 5k (for me anyway). The 100 mile bike ride before hand made it tougher and is not my typical pre-race "warm up." Post race
Warm down: My parents were there and they had a beer for me right when I crossed the finish line. I hopped in the '67 Mustang Convertible and we headed to Sal and Mookies for some pizza and more beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Seriously? The 100 mile bike ride maybe? Event comments: Greak 5k in downtown Jackson that raised money for melanoma research and treatment. The race shirts were dri-fit and designed by Marshall Ramsey, sort of a local celeb political cartoonist who happens to be a skin cancer survivor. It was very organized and the participation numbers were outstanding. They had a 5k run and walk along with mile fun runs for the kids. Just a great race, a great time, and a great day. Ummm... I had ridden 100 miles on the bike earlier. Not my normal pre-race routine.
Just some stretching.
