Run
Comments: So I wanted to run 7:30 pace. I started out easy and hit mile 1 at 7:04. Just wanted to take it easy. My longest run this year was just over 10 miles at the same pace. Don't do this is the saying here people. Mile 2 7:18 and going up hill. Keep that pace for a good bit of the first 10. Hit the half way mark at 1:13:07. Right on pace. I ra with a gal for the whole ten miles and we just talked and ran. She ended up 2nd in her agegroup. I know the course was long so that is why I put up the mileage. The Garmin is true! I was running low on energy at mile 10 and knew I had to hang on until mile 14 for gel. Had water and gatorade at the aid stations. Only walked mile 14 and 17 to eat a gel and drink plenty of water. Good call because at 14 I was fading. Picked it up pretty good coming back down the slight hill from mile 15.5 to 17 where I had my last gel. Thank god they had those. The last 3 miles were tough. My legs were screamin but I held 7:23 on 18 and 7:35 for the last mile. Felt good to beat last years time by a full minute on a much harder course and a whole lot less training. I was almost ready for IMAZ at this time last year. HHUH? What would you do differently?: Run more long runs. I think having a bunch of shorter runs more often helped however. Post race
Warm down: Walked and was carried by Shannon and Cathy. Thanks girls. I was toast. Found Dime and drank a Brew and helped Katie get up and walk. Fun stuff! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of long runs. Event comments: For 40 bucks, this race is very expensive. Shirts were cool and it was great to see all the Bt'ers. Woke up and ate 2 waffles with peanut butter on them and some mixed fruit and a coffee from starbuck. Drove to the race.
Ran with Dime to the outhouse and drank some water.
