Swim
Comments: I was in the fifth wave. After the fourth wave went, I hoped in the water and floated The swim course was very wide, which really helped with the start. I was able to get into a rhythm right from the start. During most of the swim, the Columbia Bridge didn't seem to be getting any closer. All of the sudden it was there and within a few minutes, I was running out of the water. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: My transition time was a little long. I ran past my rack and had to double back. I had no problem getting into my shoes and socks. I forgot to grab a gel and debated going back. Instead, I decided that I would just grab one before starting the run. What would you do differently?: Move a little quicker. Bike
Comments: The bike felt great. I probably slowed a bit too much on some of the downhills and turns. Overall I had a good ride and was within my anticipated time. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 2
Comments: My time was much quicker than it felt. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: It was very hot. I was alternating between running and walking. My strategy was to just get through it. At the water stops, I dumped several glasses of water on my head to stay cool. What would you do differently?: Not much given the heat, but would like to have run more. It was 2 minutes slower than my time at my first sprint triathlon. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the staging area with Deger, went to the Team in Training tent to check in. I got some food and drink and tried to relax. What limited your ability to perform faster: The weather. Event comments: It was a great race. I'm looking forward to doing it again next year. Last updated: 2005-03-24 12:00 AM

Woke up and had a quick breakfast of a small bagel and a small doughnut at the hotel. Then we biked over to the transition area with the others from Team in Training. I put air in my tires, got body marked, and then set up my transition area. Once everything was in place, I took the bus to the swim start and waited for my wave to begin.
The only warm up that I did was the ride from the hotel to the transition, which was about 2.7 miles.
