Pre-race routine:

One breakfast bar, one gatoraid, half a bottle of exceleraid.
Event warmup:

About 10-15minutes of stretching, 400 meters in the freak'in freezing cold pool.
Swim
  • 06m 26s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

I signed up for a fast swim time and somehow I was pushed all the way back to start behind many slow swimmers. Needless to say I wasnt to happy about it and took it out on the slow swimmers in my way. I ended up dunking a few and literally swimming over the top of another couple people. I dont even feel bad about it. Do you blame me? Maybe next year I'll do the same thing because I really enjoyed doing that. :)
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how to get my arse into the one of the 1st groups in this event. That way i wont have to dunk people or swim over them. That slowed me down. As far as the swim is concerned, it felt really good.I hit all the turns. The stroke was in good form, breathing was ok. I think I will keep working on Lung capacities to get myself to breath on both sides instead of one. That should get me a little faster.
Transition 1
  • 03m 12s
Comments:

Was a little slow in the transition. This needs to improve
What would you do differently?:

Try putting shoes on w/out socks. Be faster. Run to my transition area.
Bike
  • 42m 15s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.04 mile/hr
Comments:

As per the person who gave me advice, I craked the down hills concentrating on speed at the top gear, then shifted down to rest on the up hills keeping my cadance up. I have to say that was very good advice as it seemed to go well. The last hill was a killer and that slowed me down tremendously. I probably was up to 30miles an hour down hill. I passed quite a few people.
What would you do differently?:

Well, this is my weakest event. I need longer rides and plan on getting quite a few in before the next event I enter. I am riding a bike that is very heavy and realy isnt meant for racing. I need to find an affordable bike that is much lighter and that will help as well. Again I think more riding will help. However I really improved in this event.
Transition 2
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Quick transition
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 32m 7s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

I stayed with this woman the whole run to get a good pace. I was beat by the time I started the run. I think I murdered myself on the bike and i also feel i hit my taper a week ago. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS.
What would you do differently?:

Well lets see, my taper was bad for this. I went on vacation a week prior to the event and what i should have done was have at least one very long run to break myself down so the following week I would run a couple short runs. This would have made me alot fresher for the run.Instead its like Ive been tapering for 2 weeks. Obviously this didnt work. I definatly could have been faster on this and I am disappointed.
Post race
Warm down:

water,orange, bagel.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My taper was off as decribed above.

Event comments:

I think they need to fix the computer that keeps track of the entry times for the swim. I wasnt the only one who was put in a slower group. I am angry because I am faster then the time I got. They need to fix that.
