Swim
Comments: I need to get better at swimming with the pack and staying on course. I know I swam an extra 200 yards at least, I'm taking a garmin next time so I can get actual and start tracking my swims better. What would you do differently?: Swim straight. Can't complain too much I started swimming 5 months ago! Transition 1
Comments: Kinda struggled with the helmet straps and wetsuit on the chip strap. Oh yeah, and putting on my new (going back to the store) Garmin 405 watch. Heads up people this is a cool watch but a shitty training/racing partner!! What would you do differently?: Practice taking off the suit when I do lake swims. Practice putting on my helmet quicker. Get my Garmin 305 back! Bike
Comments: Felt good on the bike. Took it easy up all of the hills and hammered on the flats and downhills. No one passed me on the bike! I pushed a little harder than I would if I was planning to run a faster pace after the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Took my time to put socks on and lace up my running shoes. Didnt know what to expect on the run so I wore my softest running shoes. What would you do differently?: For this race nothing. Once my run is back I'll use the Zoots and blast out of transition! Run
Comments: Super happy with the fact that I actually finished this! I havent run more than 6 miles since the 1/2 marithon I completed in January. My right leg has been killing me only when I run for the past month so I wasnt sure if I'd be able to run today. I started out slow and just kept a super easy jogging pace and it didnt hurt the entire race. I walked through every water station and drank some gatorade and dumped water on my head. What would you do differently?: Nothing for this race. Going to take it easy for a week then see if I can start some speed work to prep for the next race. Post race
Warm down: Ran straight to the food table...ate 3 pieces of pizza, a banana, 1 oatmill raisan cookie, and 2 chocolate chip cookies. Walked down to the lake, raised my fist in the air, and yelled, "HA!" What limited your ability to perform faster: Navigation skills in the water, no Zipp wheels, and low running mileage training prior to the race. Event comments: Not happy about going longer than 6 hours!! Its gonna make it easy to PR next year for sure! However, I'm stoked that I'm back! Its been 8 years of being out of shape and not taking good care of myself. I'm so glad my good friend Kilo_Dave challenged me to doing this race! He has been so helpful along the way! I am hooked!! I cant wait to log my training efforts and look at what everyone else is doing, huge motivation for me!! Now its time to strengthen my weakness and build on my strenths! I know next year I will crush my time!! Last updated: 2008-02-27 12:00 AM

Got up early, ate a bagel with peanut-butter, packed the car and drove down to the lake.
Nothing, just hung out with Kilo_Dave and tried to relax.
Note: Getting a few minutes in the water before a race works better for me. I'll do that from now on!
