Swim
Comments: breathing was okay. heaart rate was higher than i would have liked due to being sick. felt like i was exhausted/wiped out. decided here that the day was going to be fun and to enjoy it but also not be out there any loonger than i had to. it was pretty cool because when i got in, the hoyts were right behind me. What would you do differently?: nothing given the day Transition 1
Comments: decided to take my time as i needed it after the swim felt challenging from being sick. What would you do differently?: maybe try to go a little faster but given the day that may have been all i was able to do. Bike
Comments: felt great on the bike. legs were a little tight at the beginning but loosened up nicely and felt that I was able to keep a good pace and power output. What would you do differently?: nothing. felt nutrition and pacing were right on. oh yeah, there is one thing that i might not do next time and that is pee on the bike. my shoes smell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Transition 2
Comments: good transition. took time but also stopped to get some more sunscreen as every race so far this year i have burned. What would you do differently?: a little faster. Run
Comments: sucked!!!!!!!! what else can i say. when i got off the bike i really didn't want to run and almost said no but decided if i didn't try i couldn't say no. first loop wasn't too bad as is seen by my paces. stayed hydrated and paced what was comfortable. did not want to go back out on loop 2 (Dave actually thought I wasn't going to the last time I saw him on loop1). But i met this nice guy who said he would meet me at the finish line and so I told him to meet me in about an hour. Loop 2 the congestion and heaviness in my chest just got worse so I walked a little more. then a damn bee latched on to my lip and stung me. When you are sick and having difficulty breathing, gettinng stung by a bee and being in pain from that which then makes it harder to breathe is not a good thing. but finally finished up saw the guy i said i would meet, thanked him and pushed it home. What would you do differently?: suck it up and run a little more Post race
Warm down: walked around, got Chrissy Wellinngton's autograph, searched for my husband, found him in the med tent, packed up and got food. went to hotel and crashed after stretching a little. What limited your ability to perform faster: being sick Event comments: too many people afterwards with too long of a line for food. left innstead to go get food elsewhere as we didn't want to stand in line. also didn't like the fact that family members were being allowed into transition.
