Swim
Comments: Came out of the water faster than I thought I would , beach run wasn't terrible. What would you do differently?: Less breaststroke, not take goggles off until ou tof water- the sandbar tricked me. Transition 1
Comments: Didn't click in as easily as I noramlly do no T1 split provided guessing here What would you do differently?: Click in sooner Bike
Comments: Riding a hybrid I passed plenty of tri/road bikes , but I still am losing time riding the big blue horse. What would you do differently?: Upgrade to road or tri bike Push harder Transition 2
Comments: Went very good What would you do differently?: speed laces of some kind, find my race belt Run
Comments: didn't lose any goround on the run and didn't have a great run Post race
Warm down: Talked with teh peeps and then went off to get ready for Jimmy Buffett concert What limited your ability to perform faster: Hybrid bike OWS training Event comments: Wish I could see T times and bike split What I learned from the race: I’m thrilled with the results, but I didn’t feel like I did as well as could have and will pass along my short comings in hopes others don’t fall into the same trap. Starting in sequential order: Pre Race In an effort to not get all of my stuff together too soon I left too much to the night before. Issues I had: -no race belt to be found, I’ve seen it around the house, car, bag, etc., but it was never found. -race day outfit-you got to look good/feel good to be fast-I opted for a expo and late night run to find something I felt ok in , but not great. -due to race belt fiasco, I went to bed around 10:45 and then got up at 5:00 and had to make my own belt, I was tired and the belt was bothersome during the race. Race Day With all the planning I do I still had no idea race morning, when I was leaving, how I was getting there, etc. and did not get the right amount of food and beverage in me. Swim: Had fogging problems-2nd use with goggles and I should have had this figured out sooner Being able to stand, run was nice, but also took me out of my rhythm somehow I was aggressive, but still should have had a bit more contact or move people out of the way T1: An extra bit of body glide on bike shoes and wetsuit was worth it Bike: Here is where I really could have done better (regardless of riding a hybrid) in retrospect I was holding back, because I could tell I was ahead of my goal pace. I decided at 90% effort I could still beat my goal (which I did),but I should have forgotten about the time and tried to reel more riders in. Had I pushed it more I think I would have had same run and faster bike. T2: Again poor planning-waited to last minute to get speed laces and then never did, took the time to lace up. Other than that T2 was good for me Run: I’m glad I was able to run this route in training, I knew what to expect and was able to take the things I learned about downhill running and use them to my advantage. I didn’t do as well as expected time wise, but it was ok Last updated: 2008-02-28 12:00 AM
