![]() Swim
Comments: This swim includes a long run to transition. My time out of the water was 29:31 and a PR for me... Still, I really need to work on my swim. I could be killing it if my swim was half of what my bike and run are right now! Last year I swam this in 34:47, this year officially 30:24 so that is a huge improvement. Also, Last year I came in 999th out of 1415 and this year 692 out of 1317 so a nice improvement there. What would you do differently?: Swim more. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Good transition... not super fast but smooth. What would you do differently?: Not worry about putting on my Garmin. From now on, the POLAR is my race watch and the Garmin is my training watch. ![]() Bike
Comments: This is where it is coming together for me! I am very happy with my biking right now. Officially I was 2nd in my AG on the bike but only one second behind the winner Tim Sandell. We were the only ones to have a 23+ avg mph on the bike course. It's hard to really have a big avg speed on this course because of the long climb where speeds drop into the single digits. Last year: 1:08:22 so another improvement! NOTE: I climbed old stage in my saddle, I never stood up on the pedals! I have never done that in training or in this race. I was trying to be smooth and to keep my HR as low as possible. I think this was smart. What would you do differently?: Nada ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Another good transition. Smooth. Last year my two transitions totaled 3:02 this year 1:48 - I made up more time in transition than on the bike! What would you do differently?: Nada ![]() Run
Comments: I knew it was going to be the hottest day in Denver this year so my plan was to rock the bike and let the run just be what it would be... this worked and I broke 40 minutes on a OLY tri for the first time! My plan was to hold 6:20s and I managed a 6:27 average (basically my marathon pace). This is a really tough run course so I'm super pleased with the result here. What would you do differently?: Nada ![]() Post race
Warm down: BEERS with BT friends! What limited your ability to perform faster: My swim is my limiter. but I made some improvements and I'm happy about that. Event comments: This is a great race... one of the best in the country with one of the strongest fields of competitors anywhere! It is a great benchmark race to tell me where my fitness is at this point in the season. Since my bike/run split was faster than the winner of my AG, I'm think I'm in the best shape of my life! I just need to continue to improve on the swim and get ready for IMAZ! Last updated: 2008-02-29 12:00 AM

This is my 24th race of the year so it is becoming routine...
Woke up at 2 to get my bike and gear ready! I have been so busy and tired this week and I didn't have time to do it before going to bed. I haven't had good sleep, my legs were very fatigued and my training slipped this past week.
Rode with Dills and Tom for a few miles.
Had some stomach issues so I hit the porta-potty a lot. I am glad that the race was delayed 15 minutes or my race could have ended up differently!
