Run
Comments: For a "C" race that I decided to do on Thursday night I am happy with the result. I have been pretty sick the last week and a half and I rode 52 miles on the bike yesterday. Started off a little fast (first 3 miles were under 20 min) and I hit the 10k mark at about 42 and some change. Hills really didn't bother me since I train on them all the time anyway. Fatigue in the legs from yesterdays bike ride kicked in about Mile 11. That all being said, it's a new PR by 3 minutes. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, the only thing that I would do if I were trying to PR is not ride the day before. And not dig so deep on the ride. I was trying out Carbo Pro (which is good) but I forgot my NUUN's so it was Carbo Pro in water (which is bad) and no electrolytes. I didn't drink enough on the ride and was really feeling dehydrated most of yesterday. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and got some water and fruit and waited for Cookie to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Sickness and fatigue. My HR was pretty low the entire run and I actually hit the 5 and 10k marks near my PR for both. The entire run felt easy until Mile 11 when the hammys and calves started to bark. Event comments: After the horror stories from last year I was a little nervous, but they had plenty of water and Gatorade and each stop and were handing out GU at mile 7.5 as advertised. I would do this race again. Last updated: 2008-03-01 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 after getting off at 11 the night before. Drove over and picked up Cookie Monster. Arrived at the race site entirely too early.
