Pre-race routine:

Arrived at ECP at around 6:40am. At such an early hour, my body doesn't feel like racing at all. The road was wet and the air is cold. Would have rather sleep late but I have paid for this race so I have to do it. Collected the race pack, have the body marking, set up the transition area and visit the toilet for the last time and it was fast approaching 7:30am.
Event warmup:

I managed to dip into the water for some warm up swim before the flag off at 7:45am
Swim
  • 42m 41s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 51s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim start was messy! I can't move forward, backward, right or left. Everywhere I go, people would hit me in the water. After a frustrating wait for the people to clear my path, I decided to go to the other side of the lane marking to make my way to the first bouy. After the first bouy, the swim was relatively nice. I don't have to fight for a space in the open sea from then on. The water was relatively calm but on the way back to the shore, the current was quite strong. I felt like I am not moving much despite the effort I put in the stroke.

When I reach the end of the swim leg, I was glad that it is over. I clocked 42:41mins.
What would you do differently?:

More swim training
Transition 1
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

It took me another 1:41mins to clear transition before my run leg. I almost forget to wear my number tag. I even took someone else number tag and had to turn back to pick up mine instead. *Felt so clumsy*
Run
  • 56m
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 36s  min/km
Comments:

The run was slow at the beginning as I was trying to recover from the swim. After 3km, I managed to run comfortably without breathing hard. I took a Hammer gel along the way to replenish my fuel. The weather was wonderfully cloudy and cooling. After the 5km mark, I felt that I started to run at a faster pace. Saw Chris along the way. The last 2km I open up my stride and dash for the last 500m to the finishing line to complete the race in 1hr40m28s.

Overall I felt that it was a good race. Could have been better if I have trained more but time does not permit so I have to make do with whatever training I tried to squeeze in.
What would you do differently?:

Run more frequently
Post race
Warm down:

Did some stretching and have a massage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training.

Event comments:

Despite the lack of training, I felt that it was a good race. The weather was superb.
