![]() Swim
Comments: We were in the 2nd wave after the Elites. I had been stoked about this because after experiencing what seemed like swimming with the entire population of the world at Danskin I was excited to be able to be free in the water. Oh boy. It was actually hard. I swam off course goodness knows how many times. Sighting was really hard as there wasn't really much to sight if you know what I mean. I was bumped 3 times by guards on boards for straying off course too much. Teehee. What would you do differently?: I don't really know. I sighted, or at least tried too. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: It's at least a half mile to the transition area. I made sure to leave some shoes at the swim exit as it's all hard asphalt back to T1. Plus they make you run around the run exit and back down towards your racks on the other side. It really did take forever! What would you do differently?: Move faster I guess? ![]() Bike
Comments: My legs were in trouble right from the start. Ouch. I have not been riding enough, not nearly enough and I could feel it. I did not chicken out on the downhills so I felt really good about that. I ended up cramping up on the last hill back into T2 and had to stop to rub it out. What would you do differently?: Bike more! Mostly hills~ ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Moved as fast as I could. Not too shabby. ![]() Run
Comments: By this time I feel exhausted. I knew I had 4 miles to run so yah. Suck it up baby! I found a nice gal to run/walk with. We ran all the downhills and walked fast on the ups. The first 2 mile loop took me 30 minutes. 2nd loop was 26 so I'm quite proud of that. Dashed to the finish and did probably the stupidest of jumps over the finish line. Got a few laughs which if you know me, I love. :) What would you do differently?: Be more consistent in training, do more of my weakest events which is running followed by more biking. Do more hill sprints too. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Stratching. Loads of it. I could feel my hips seizing. Not good! Eek. Took my time getting out of the transition area. Chatted to loads of folk who remembered me. Met Rachel at the raffle area. I was really hoping for a Speedo pack but in the end I won a $180 dollar leather purse! WOW. I never win anything! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Feeling sick for the past 2 weeks, not being consistent and also being too hard on myself. Event comments: I love this race. It truely is one of the best organized small races in Washington and I'm sure others will agree! There are so many volunteers out there cheering and whooping us all and the police do a great job keeping us safe! This is in my top 5! Last updated: 2008-03-04 12:00 AM

I managed to talk my husband, Ron into joining me for my last tri of the season. I had been really nervous and worried about how I would do as I hadn't really been in training mode due to illness etc...as always. I started by chucking my entire banana and peanut butter smoothie all over me when getting into the car. Brilliant. Headed to Starbucks for a coffee :)
Walking to the transition area from where we parked. Stretched and I swam for about 5 minutes before my wave set off.
