Comments: Think I got my fluid in-take right this time. No cramping in the legs which has been a problem for me in previous 1/2s and full marathons. So that was good. Think I should have taken my gel earlier than the 7 mile mark. I started to fade after mile 9 and I think it had to do with a lack of nutrition. If I took the gel earlier, I think it would have helped me more toward the later part of the race. Forgot to mention that in the pace group there were two of three people who could run in a straight line. They kept bumping into people (including myself) and it was driving me nuts. Whenever I moved they seemed to show up and bump into me or others. Urgh. First time in pace group and it was overall a good experience, except the fact that those couple of people just didn't seem to realize there were other people running around them. What would you do differently?: Take the gel earlier and maybe use more than one. Next time I'll use the Infinit as a paste. Didn't use it today because I hadn't used it in training. Warm down: Not much. Just waited for a few other people to finish. Got some bananas and water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Flawed nutrition strategy. Ate a cliff bar, banaba and drank some Infinit before we left the hotel. Drank some more water in the gym before we went out to the corrals.
Stretched in the gym before heading out to the start. Didn't really run but felt fine anyway.
