Pre-race routine:

The norm of getting transition ready and still thinking I forgot something.
Event warmup:

Not much other than get in the stupid cold water and try to pee in my wetsuit to warm up.
Swim
  • 10m 17s
  • 766 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

FREEZING! It was interesting to see some people opting to 'run' in the water down the shallow ends. I just kept swimming passing legs that looked like they were going backwards. There was 1 point where I inhaled a huge gulp of water which made me stop and stand for a second coughing up the water. Other than that the swim felt really good and fast.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I think I had a really good swim and I'm happy with it.
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Had just a bit of trouble getting the wetsuit off my feet. Then I had some trouble with my race# belt. I decided to go sockless for the race to see how it was. I'm pretty sure that is the way to go for short races.
What would you do differently?:

If my racenumber is upside down just leave it. Figure out the how to do the shoes already clipped thing.
Bike
  • 50m 56s
  • 18.64 miles
  • 21.96 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm pretty happy with my bike segment. I felt like I could have went a bit faster, but the ride the day before took some out of me. I know I could push it some if I had fresh legs.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Maybe an aero helmet.
Transition 2
  • 00m 26s
Comments:

I'm happy.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 22m 55s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

I'm happy with the run. It felt good and felt like I was going hard. This is a new PR for a 5K for me by 2 minutes!
What would you do differently?:

Run a bit faster during the first half.
Post race
Warm down:

Got me some chocolate milk and water then hung out with my brother-in-law and his kids waiting to cheer for my Sister.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training for an Ironman, but I'm totally ok with that.

Event comments:

I'm extremely happy with my race. I knocked just over 10 minutes off of last year was pretty pumped when I saw the results. If I can knock another 10 minutes off by next year I'll be taking home some hardware.
