![]() Run
Comments: It is hard to run fast in a group of 30,000 people. I started closer to the front, because I knew, even as slow as I am, that I'd be dodging people. Still had to dodge alot. I think I probably lost some time trying to find my way. At the same time it was nice, because I've never been in a group of people that large, and it was definitely an experience. I was really hoping to have a great race, and even though it was really hot, and I didn't do as well as I'd hoped: I HAVE A NEW PR FOR 5K! Yeah for me. I ran for 10 minutes, then walked for 1 minute. Ran for another 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute, and the wheels fell off. I'm not sure what I did after that. Mostly just ran a little, then walked a little. over and over. Ran the last half-block or so. What would you do differently?: Not Walk. I really have to work on being able to handle the heat, and also to be able to convince myself to run the entire race. I know I can do it, I've done it before, but in the midst of the race... ![]() Post race
Warm down: Poured half a bottle of water on my head. Walked back to hockeytown and got lots of ice, then drove back home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat. Mental capacity to push myself. Event comments: This was just a huge event. The bad side is there's no results available, just what you get off either the time clocks they had at each mile, or your own watch. Last updated: 2005-04-05 12:00 AM

Woke up a little late. Ate an english muffin with butter (I gotta get a new race breakfast) and drank a gatorade. Gathered up my stuff and drove over to the race. Got to the race really early, and hung out at Hockeytown with the Ford contingent. It was nice. A/C, drinks, fruit (if you eat that crap) and real washrooms.
Mostly just sat around and people-watched until about 30 min before the race. Did a couple quick, short runs as I made my way up to the not-quite-at-the-front spot I was going to start from. Tried not to melt. It was REALLY hot (although not as hot as last week.)
