Pre-race routine:

Got to race early due to the size of the race - over 14,000 runners. Lots of porta potties so no lines. Cold and windy so I stayed in the car until about 1 hour before the race.
Event warmup:

Gentle stretching and short jog. Wanted to get to the start line early so I didn't get stuck in the back like last year where it took over 7 minutes to get to the start line.

Comments:

WINDY - My guess is about 25 mph with gusts to at least 30. It was in our faces and also across from the west on the Main St Bridge. I almost tripped once when the wind gusted and my right leg hit my left leg. I talked to several others who had the same thing happen. My first 2 miles were a little fast for me but I felt good. My Garmin stopped registering at 2.5 miles and when I looked down before 3 miles I was surprised that I had only gone 2 miles. I started feeling bad at that point and was wondering if I could even finish. Reached mile 5 at less than my goal of 45 minutes so it felt better. The Hart Bridge was tough. I had to lean forward and to the left to fight the wind. A fire fighter passed me going up the bridge, he was in full gear, other than running shoes. Those guys are amazing!!

Great downhill finish into the stadium with lost of people in the stands.
What would you do differently?:

Get a new Garmin. It never seems to work right in races.
Post race
Warm down:

It was cold and windy so I cooled down quick. It took a while to get out of the stadium because of the set up.

Event comments:

Very organized race but the post race area was packed due to the number of runners and families.

FREE BEER!!
