Run
Comments: The start was an absolute clusterf*ck. Took a while before we could actually start running and then it was just one road block after another with slower runners clogging things up. Wasted a lot of energy trying to find a space to run in. First mile was sub 8 minutes. Prob not good. 8:00 would have been better. Second mile around 8:06 — okay good. Third mile, I'm losing steam and struggling to hold on. I needed to maintain 8:00 ish to have a chance to break 25 minutes. A women has picked me as her rabbit and she keeps sweeping past me dragging her elbow as if to say "I'm passin' ya". Once woulda been fine, but I passed her (without touching her, mind you) and she insisted on being ahead of me so she sped up and passed me with the elbow thing. We did this back and forth thing a few times. I thought about decking her, but there were too many witnesses. Again, wasted energy letting her get under my skin. What would you do differently?: Just go have a beer somewhere and watch the runners go by ;). But, really it was a good run and considering the training load associated with my upcoming IM and yesterday's workout, I did pretty well. Last year I ran this race in 25:09 so I didn't lose much. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: A heavy training load that is so not geared toward a fast 5k. Event comments: A fun race put on by Hartford Marathon Foundation. You get a nice t-shirt and a cool pint glass so its worth the price of admission. Plus, it puts you down town on St. Paddy's day weekend for a little festivity. Last updated: 2008-03-12 12:00 AM

The usual chaos.
Found Polly and her gang. Some easy jogging with a few pickups and high knees to get loose. I seriously didn't wanna hurt myself today. A 5k in the mist of training for an Ironman…?? hmmm… maybe not… But, its St. Paddy's day so WTH!
