Swim
Comments: Surprisingly I wasn't nervous for the swim at all. Last year I was almost shaking with nervousness about the swim. I think my emphasis on swim training really helped increase my confidence. I started in the back left side of the pack because I wanted a straight shot to the first buoy and rounding. Managed to get there and even passed people. I kept thinking about just getting into a rhythm. I got into that rhythm and hit a disgusting huge jellyfish. I let out a scream because I am NOT a fan of sea life. Thankfully it didn't sting me. One woman kept swimming on top of me the whole time, I was like, um excuse me and tried to get away but she just followed me. She was literally on top of me a few times. I just kicked harder. 75/189 women What would you do differently?: This was the best swim I've had to date. I would work on the mark roundings and maybe be more defensive so I don't get trampled. Transition 1
Comments: I am so slow at transitioning. Although in my last race my T1 time was 5 minutes, so I'm getting faster:) I couldn't get my wetsuit off my heels despite a liberal application of body glide. What would you do differently?: More body glide. Buy bike shoes that don't have laces. Bike
Comments: Biking is my hardest discipline. I just started last August and am still slow. I was really excited to see this time as my goal was 15 mph. I don't think I've ever averaged over 16 mph! 128/189 women What would you do differently?: More practice, longer practice rides. Learn to drink on the bike without tipping over! Transition 2
Comments: This technically should have been a lot faster than T1, not sure why it wasn't. I didn't drink anything on the bike so I was thirsty and took a little time to drink. I also had to unlace by bike shoes and put on my running shoes which saw their last 3 miles ever that day. I had to retie them because they were too loose at first. What would you do differently?: Work on taking my shoes off and putting them on. Should have learned that in preschool... Run
Comments: This was a flat flat course. I kept asking myself, can I go faster? The answer was always yes. I feel like I could have pushed it more. My goal was 10 min or under/mile and I beat that so I'm happy! 128/189 women What would you do differently?: Push it a little harder. Post race
Warm down: I finished in a sprint as a guy tried to pass me, but I beat him:) Gave my chip back, got my finishers medal and beelined to the food tent where I consumed about 10 bottles of water. Felt quite light headed about 2 minutes after I finished, ate a peach and was ok. Other than talk with my friends and take pictures, no warm-down. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I was dehydrated. Stayed out too late Friday night even though I didn't drink and was tired all day Saturday. Didn't drink enough liquids throughout the weekend. But other than that I beat my goal time (under 2 hrs) and all of my other goals, so I am extremely happy with this race. Can't wait to smoke my time next year. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. I felt it was very well organized save for some chaos around body marking. Once we were all properly marked, the transition area was spacious and they gave us ample warning to get down to the beach. The finishers medal was pretty cool and great music throughout the morning. After-race food was great- thanks Stew Leonard! Last updated: 2008-03-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, ate breakfast and gathered all of my stuff. Out the door at 5 without waking up the roommates.
Didn't do much warm up, swam for about 30 seconds and then realized the first wave already started so I scooted to the start. Joked around with my friends that were doing a relay while waiting to start.
