Run
Comments: My goal was to run this slow today and not push since I had to ride 60 miles afterwards and run the second half marathon the next day. I tried really hard to keep my HR in check and I did pretty good, but then kept forgetting and not paying attention and running too fast for what I was trying to do. It was HOT out there--I was drenched in sweat on the start of the second loop and slowed down along just trying to keep my HR in check and not overheat. Looked like a lot of others did the same thing! Super fun race though and AWESOME volunteers. They were so nice and happy and positive for us all. I loved it and had a great time! What would you do differently?: Stayed in my HR better and run a negative split instead of what I did. Post race
Warm down: Got some water, grabbed my bike and changed into my cycling gear and went for a ride! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not being prepared yet to run in the heat. Winter has softened me up too much! Event comments: Really nice race and awesome opportunity to run a half on Saturday and another one on Sunday or a full marathon if you are a glutton for punishment. Awesome race medals and a third one for completing the challenge of running both half marathons. Definitely one to do if you are in Houston! I'll be back next year to take on the full marathon challenge! Last updated: 2008-03-12 12:00 AM

I had my usual pre-race ensure and coffee on my way to Seabrook. Once I got to the race, I picked up my chip and had some water and made my way to the start. There were only a couple hundred runners, so I moved pretty close to the front. Normally I jog before a race but because I knew I'd be running 2 half marathons this weekend, I decided not to really do anything. This was just going to be a cruise this weekend and not a race!
Stretched and chatted. I think that counted.
