Run
Comments: My plan was to gradually build my pace throughout the run. I knew it would be tougher coming back and I wanted to save some for that. I was shocked when I hit the turn around at 7:48. Run back was tougher but I kept telling myself, you gotta bike to ride, don't burn yourself out. Very pleasantly surprised when at hit the line at 16:09. What would you do differently?: Not really anything Transition 1
Comments: no issues Bike
Comments: Solid ride. Out was very quick. Clipped in clean and swooped down the hill. Saw some 28 to 30 early, I love that. Lots of gear changing and switching from big to little ring and I made good clean shifts all the way through. Averaged 22 plus to the turnaround, but the turnaround was sloppy. It was tight and I had to unclip. Ride back a little tougher but I worked hard. On the last turn, I must have pushed down too hard on the bars as they slid down a little. I adjusted them back on the fly! I passed 36 people on the bike. One passed me, but I think I passed him throwing up on the side of the road. I didn't make any of the mistakes I made last time out. I have been doing this seriss for 6 years and the bike course got changed this year so you can't compare the times anymore. Its a mile shorter and an out and back instead of a loop. My average speed was 20.7 which is 1.7 mph better than I was in the April 12 version. My best on the old course was 21.7 back in 05. I hope to get back to that level. What would you do differently?: I need to get some miles in on the new set up. I made the change because I noticed I haven't been able to hold aero as good as I used too. I think I fixed that today. Comments: Smooth. I brought my amphipod for this run. What would you do differently?: nada Run
Comments: Started a little slow but kept pushing and got better throughout the run. I got passed by a net of 18 people. I negative splitted the 4th mile and thats a much tougher mile than #3. PR run for this 4 mile course. Post race
Warm down: caught my breath, drank some water, then got stuff and put it in the truck. What limited your ability to perform faster: No complaints today. I raced to my fitness level. Event comments: 3 race series that is consistently one of the best bargains in racing. $10 for no shirt option, Race starts at 8, last finisher at 9:35 and awards are given by 10:00. Watermelon and cookies, no beer but for 10 what can you expect. We knew to bring our own. We had a new local runner go with us today. He rode Franks wifes mountain bike. He was first on the mtn bike and actually 10th overall. I think he did the first 2 miles in 10:30 and was pretty impressive on the mtn bike. Hopefully we will get him into a tri soon. He went home with one of my extra road bikes to try it out. Frank was 2nd in age group and 12 overall. Worm ducked me and didn't show! Last updated: 2008-03-12 12:00 AM

We are dogsitting for our neighbors and the dog kept me up a little but not a big deal Got up at 4:30 and had waffles. Frank and Jay picked me up at 5:30 for the drive. The ride takes 1:50 minutes and we were a little later than I like but still plenty of time. Got on the bike and made sure everything was working. In the past week, I changed and lowered my seat. Rode it once, then moved the seat forward and hadn't ridden since then. .
Did a 4 minute jog 10 minutes before the race
