Swim
Comments: My best swim ever in a race! From the start swam strong stayed in good form navigation was right on, every time I looked up to sight I was right on the bouy line. Swam the entire course without even being touched that has never happen. The water felt great and was crystal clear just an awsome swim for me, last year I was 9:52 What would you do differently?: nothing, I may have been able to go harder, my PRE was about a 7-8, but I knew I was moving good and there was no need to push to redline with my stronger legs coming Transition 1
Comments: good transistion, the run from the water to the transition is quite a ways plus you had to run on some loose gravel which was a little rough on the feet, but wetsuit off quick, glasses, helmet, and shoes on quickly :20 faster than last year and I didn't wear a wetsuit last year, what was I doing last year? What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: As this race has the best water, it might have the worst road conditions I have encountered in a Triathlon. Very rough roads, I got on the bike ready to let it rip, I started out flying and felt good, at mile 3 I hit something and my Garmin went flying off the bike, I couldn't believe it, I had to stop go back and pick it up (there is no way I'm leaving that it cost to much and I love it) this cost me at least a minute, I picked it up and put it in my pocket, so now I'm biking blind no speed, HR, or cadence, that's alright, about 10 people went around me when I went back to pick up the garmin, it's time to get them all back and I did, I passed everyone of them back, in fact this was the first time no one passed me on the bike, I road the whole way without anyone going around me that I didn't pass back. It was a good bike, I averaged over 22 mph if you take off the drive back and stop. What would you do differently?: I have re-attached my garmin to the bike and did not rig it up like last time, other than that it was a good bike for me, I would like to be in the 24-25 mph range so I need to work on more mileage and some intervals Transition 2
Comments: First thing I noticed was that there were two bikes on the rack, that means I'm most likely in 3rd. Very quick transistion for me everything went well, 35 seconds I don't think I could have went much faster. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: not a good run for me, I just don't do well on trails. Some climbs were muddy and slick, but overall it wasn't too bad. I just could not get in a good pace, but ran pretty good, for some reason I just can't push it on trails. Only one person passed me on the run and it was around the 2.5 mile mark I just hope he wasn't in my age group since I was the 3rd bike on my rack. What would you do differently?: push it a little harder, my HR was down for what I usually run, but I didn't want to fall or damage myself, since this race really isn't a proity, it's just for fun and experience Post race
Warm down: ran a little and that was it What limited your ability to perform faster: Droping my Garmin and trail run I'm just not fast on the trails Event comments: I like this race, best water ever to swim in, good bike course just rough road, and the trail run makes it a change of pace for me. I got 3rd in my age group which was good and I feel much better about my swim, I'm not sure what happen in Lafayette. This is just a fun event to do and to shake the rust of winter off.
