Pre-race routine:

Decided the night before to drive up instead of taking the RTD bus, so got up about 4am and headed out by 5. LOTS of traffic already on the road to Boulder by this time. Ate some cream of wheat with raisins for breakfast. No laughing, I actually do like the stuff :)
Event warmup:

Randomly ran into Dave and Meg while walking to the wave starts so bs'd with them for a bit, then ran to my wave. Probably 5-10 min tops of warmup. Overcast and cool out, but no rain or wind. Perfect!

Comments:

Started out too fast, and didn't realize it till I got my first mile split and reined it in quickly after that. Didn't want to run this too hard since I have my mary in 5 days! In the back of my mind before the race, I thought it'd be cool to break 45 minutes, but decided at the start to just have fun, consider it a tempo run, and go with it. Got a way better wave then last year so didn't have to pass a bunch of slow people like I did before. Leg didn't hurt, and I felt pretty good!
What would you do differently?:

Check myself at the start. I always tend to go out fast, and I want to be extra careful with that at the marathon.
Post race
Warm down:

Headed over to Section 110 to meet up with the rest of the BT crew and F4 people. Was anticipating sitting in the sun and drinking a few brewskis but it wasn't to be today as it started raining shortly after I finished. Brought dry clothes with to change in to, and was so glad I did cuz I was chilled almost immediately after I finished.

Event comments:

Went and got breakfast with Dave and Meg at a little place on Pearl Street, and then waited for the Elite's to come thru. We were at about the 8K point, and got to see them coming around the block corner and we were practically within arm's reach of them when the passed. Ryan Hall was getting his ass handed to him! Deena didn't look that great either. Fun to see them run tho, they are FAST!
Fun day and great to see everyone!

Course: Forgot a couple hills on the course! Mile 3 and 4 definately hilly. Lots of fan support. Wasn't too impressed with most of the bands. I remember them being alot more upbeat last year. Some of them weren't even playing when I ran by. Must have been "intermission" or something :)
