Run
Comments: Had to pass way too many people at the beginning of the race. After the first mile everyone settled into a good pace. Felt surprisingly strong on hills (did GU help so much?) so passed a lot of people. Started getting exhausted and slowing down at mile 5 marker so had to pick someone to chase. That worked ok and helped maintain 7:40 min/mile pace. Ran out of gas at mile 6 and got passed by 5-7 people on the final sprint. Well, I couldn't really sprint at all at that point ;-) 8 aid stations.. used 3 of 'em at ~ 2, 4, and 5 mile markers. great help. What would you do differently?: Start closer to the front. Post race
Warm down: Drinking water and accelerade. Eating snacks (cliff bars and chips). Just a bit of stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: maybe need to do stretch before the race! Event comments: First 10k. Great race to run. Well organized, and no delays. Live music along the way helped a lot! Last updated: 2008-03-13 12:00 AM
