Comments: HOT HOT HOT...Holy smokes the pool felt like hot bathwater. I jumped in and nearly passed out! Easily the warmest pool I have ever been in. I was struggling super hard, there was a guy in my age group ahead of me that was BACKSTROKING part of the time and I couldn't coordinate my body to pass him. I felt soo slow, but I will never no my actual time. According to my run and bike splits I entered the pool at 48:40 and I believe I finished between 52:48 and 52:53, but that's another story... What would you do differently?: Get myself mentally prepared for how hot the water was... Transition 1
Comments: Felt really good after the run and getting on the bike. Still a little too slow getting into my shoes after I jump on my bike, but feel there is a real advantage to running barefoot to mounting point instead of in shoes. Bike
Comments: Fun bike course. First race since converting my road bike to tri bike with aerobars, dogleg seatpost, saddle and stem and I felt really good. What would you do differently?: Keep putting in miles on my bike because right now I feel its my weakest area, but do feel I am getting stronger. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2. Managed to carry speed and still undo shoes and get my feet on top of my shoes. Just had to grab my googles and I was off. Forgot to take my heart rate monitor off though! Run
Comments: Had a pretty good run. I realized I have a tendency to start off the first mile too quick and fade during the second half of the run. This time I made myself hold back and settle into a good pace while still keeping the leaders in sight for most of the time. Also, I actually slept the night before so i felt rested and ready for the race. What would you do differently?: Need to learn when to pick up my speed. The beginning doesn't seem to work for me, but I felt I left some out there, so decide where to turn it up. Post race
Warm down: Felt really really light headed after I got out of the pool, so much so i didn't realize they didn't call my correct race number. Grab some water and chilled for a second and felt much better. Gathered up my transition area and changed clothes, and checked out the post race festivities while waiting for results. What limited your ability to perform faster: The temp of the pool was a bit of an eye opener for me, but no excuses, I felt like I performed as well as I could Event comments: As Scone can attest, it def sucks to put effort into the race and not having a result to show for it. The race organizers called out the wrong race number when I got out of the pool. I was race number 146 and they called out race number 140. Was a bit of a shock looking at the results page and knowing around what time I finished and having nothing to show for it. I am pretty sure I finished 11th overall and 3rd in my age group, but with the race number mix up no hardware for me. Oh well, I know how I did, and its a good learning expirence for next race. Really liked the race and the course, but def a bit bummed in not having a result. Live and Learn I guess. Last updated: 2008-03-13 12:00 AM

Got up, packed the car, had a bowl of Kashi and a Clif Bar, waited for my buddy Nick to meet me and cruised up to Pasadena
Checked-in. Set up Transition. Our age group was lucky that we got a first row spot right next to the bike exit.
Ran a little about 30mins before race, and walked over from transition to the start.
