Swim
Comments: The swim looked long. The swim felt long. I was doing good with my sighting on the way out. I had people to my left, and right to sight off of. I could not see the far bouy very well, since I wear glasses, and don't do contacts. On the way back there were alot of people that were crossing over into oncoming traffic. I stopped a few times to get a good sighting. Oh yeah this time also includes getting my wetsuit off before running up for transition. What would you do differently?: Perscription goggles are on the list for next year. Transition 1
Comments: Came out of the water about what I figured. I got up to transition, and took a gel and a good drink of water to wash it down. Put on my socks and shoes, and got going. I had to work around a few racks, as there was a sign that made it narrow to get to the exit. What would you do differently?: I was happy with what I did. Bike
Comments: I liked the ride up until we came out of Stacy towards Chisago. 19 needs to get resurfaced. Otherwise I was going along at a good pace. I stopped once because all the sweat in my helmet area fell down into my eyes, and burned. Otherwise I was comfortable at 20-21 mph. The packs were a little disappointing to see. I would get passed by groups of 4-6 people at a shot. The only time I was really in a pack we were all stuggling on 19, and I got surrounded. I then broke out of the pack, and charged ahead for a while. What would you do differently?: I felt great. I took 5 bottles of fluid with me, and most bottles were empty when I finished. I was expecting a 18 mph average, and came in closer to 20. Transition 2
Comments: I had to manuever to get to my rack, but I thought I did a good job. I saw a friend of mine just hanging around transition, and I expected him to be out on the course. He DNF'd after the bike. I don't know if he hurt himself or what. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I did alright with where my rack spot was. Run
Comments: I was 20 minutes ahead of my predicted pace. My knee had been bugging me the week before. My quads were a little sore starting out, but wasn't that bad. I was running for a while, and then would walk, and drink. My feet were starting to hurt as I have had some issues with the metatarsul(sp?) area of my feet. Then somewhere between mile 7&8 my back started to lock up. I would run for 100-300 yards then walk for about 30 seconds to a minute, and stretch as I was walking. I kept doing this for the rest of the race. What would you do differently?: New back, advil in T2. DRUGS, DRUGS, and more DRUGS. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Back, feet, pain, head. Event comments: I liked the race, but said those words that I use to say in College. I will never do this again. I might, but it isn't something I will sign up for right now. Next is the Twin Cities Marathon. Stupid me. Last updated: 2008-03-14 12:00 AM
