Comments:

Wow. The water didn't feel cold until I put my face in it and started hypervenitlating. I think it was a combo of panic/cold. I powered it on on my back alot of the way since I didn't want to lose time and energy forcing myself to breath underwater (which I could not get myself to do).
What would you do differently?:

Spend more time with my face in open water blowing out my nose. Sounds silly but it would have been worth more than a winter of 5:30 AM swim practices Sunday.
Transition 1
  • 05m 31s
Comments:

My shoes were pretty muddy by the time I left TI, though it was only sprinkling at the time.
What would you do differently?:

More organized transition area. I just couldn't decide what the weather would do (ok, I knew it would rain but I was falsely optimistic) so I had some clothes out, but not the jacket I ended up wanting. I had to dig for it in my bag.
Bike
  • 1h 06m 17s
  • 18 miles
  • 16.29 mile/hr
Comments:

By the end of my ride it was raining in sheets, but I felt okay in the rain. It was my first race on my bike or in aero bars, and I was really happy with it. It took me a few miles to get my legs under me.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more before I race. Have water and not just gatorade.
Transition 2
  • 02m 45s
Comments:

My running shoes had muddy puddles in them. I took off my soaked socks from the ride and just wore the running shoes without them. It was solid mud by this point.
What would you do differently?:

Cover my shoes.
Run
  • 28m 49s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

After a 1/2 mile or so of pain, it was a nice quick course and my legs felt pretty good. Ran the last mile with another woman and I think it kept up the pace/kept my mind off how wet I was.
What would you do differently?:

I felt solid on the run. I wouldn't really change anything.
Post race
Warm down:

Space blanket in the medical tent while I waited for my friend. Wiping mud off things and putting on dry clothes. Visit to the Stonewall Jackson Shrine.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Breathing on the swim. I devoted alot of time in training this winter to the swim only to backstroke, so that sucked. That also meant I gave less time to running and biking.

Event comments:

Will run it again! Well organized!
