Swim
Comments: Pretty cruisy swim really, just swam at about 70-80%, was a bit blocked up so didn't want to hammer it too hard. Found a few sets of feet to draft off as i went along, it was very misty/foggy so spotting the markers was tough, so drafting was the best way to navigate. Lots of jelly fish, sea weed, and I was hit in the face by a tree brach floating in the water! Out of the water in 25min, which is a pb for that distance....then a big run up hill to transition. What would you do differently?: Can push much harder than that when feeling fit... Transition 1
Comments: Not a bad transition, but my wetsuit took a while to get off. Bike
Comments: Again just rode at about 80%, didn't want to hurt myself today. Seemed to go well up the hills, but heald back going down, the wet roads worried me a bit, kept a good pace on the flats My legs were a bit sore today on the ride to start, my but muscles on the side and upper thigh? My mind did wander a few times, i looked down and saw a low heart rate and pace so had to pick it up a bit. All in all pretty ok ride considering the conditions. What would you do differently?: Can push much harder than this with no problems when fit. Have to get my bike serviced, gears were slipping a bit. Transition 2
Comments: Took a while in this transition, had to put on wet socks and pulled my laces out of the toggle thing so had to fix that What would you do differently?: Tie a knot in the end of my laces so they don't pull off! Run
Comments: Went out way too hard on the run and didn't realise it, the first K was over in 4min, it was almost all down hill and I was right on the heals of a guy that i thought was doing about my pace...slowed down when i saw the time for that first k. I am not good at judging my pace off the bike, good thing for that foot pod! The rest off the run went a bit up and down, at times i felt good, other times not so good, but managed to keep my pace below 4:50 for the whole 10k which was the aim. was good to see the pace every k and that it was on target, this made the negative thoughts go for a few seconds every 4mins or so. I had sore legs for most of the second lap, managed to keep the pace ok up the hills. On the way out on the second lap i saw that if i kept the pace up i would end up with a PB for the race so that helped me keep pushing when it would have been easy to back off. What would you do differently?: Pushed about as hard as i could in this run given the way i was feeling. I felt sore and had afew negative thoughts going through my head but managed to keep pushing through them, i would have to say from that point of view this was one of my best runs ever. My fastest ever 10km, tri or stand alone race! Post race
Warm down: Lots of streching...(Had a game of hockey to come at 3:30) What limited your ability to perform faster: Having the tail end of a cold! Event comments: Good race venu, its nice to do a hilly (by perth standards) race for a change. Last updated: 2008-03-17 12:00 AM

drove down early, didn't feel too crash hot, still suffering the cold a bit!
Not much...streched a bit and chatted, did a bit of a swim before the start.
