Run
Comments: Things started out very well for me. The crowd started to thin out a little about 1/4 mile in and I started to weave my way past many people. I was keeping my pace down, but I was still passing others with ease. I passed the first water station without taking any water. I kept on trucking to the first turn around, then a right turn off of the main road. Passed mile 1 marker and got my time called out to me (good since I forgot to bring my watch). Nice long loop through a developed portion of the subdivision. Thats when the sinuses started to bug me. I started coughing up phlem and nearly lost my breakfast. I had to walk a minute to clear up the blockage and settle my stomach. Right turn back onto the main road and took some water 1/4 mile before the mile 2 marker. Trough the round-about near the club house. There is the finish line, well that last mile seemed short. Oh well time to kick it up for the finish. Oops, I have to run passed the finish line by about a 1/4 mile and turn around for the finish. At this point I saw this teenager with long dreads. I noticed him before and he had about a 1/2 mile lead on me, now he was 100 yards away. I played cat-n-mouse with two ladies, and the guy with dreads. Made the turn and 1/4 mile to go. I felt my stride get longer and I passed the two girls for the last time (one was an army officer). With 100 yards to go I was in an all out sprint. I had passed the dreads and had ten feet to the finish line. Thats when I heard the foot steps. He passed me and I finished 1 second behind him. I gave him a pat on the back as we got our chips cut off. Then I saw him run to some grass and revisit his breakfast. What would you do differently?: Train more and get Dr. to figure out what is up with my morning sinuses. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed two waters, one for me and one for Trey(dreads). Talked for a bit, then headed back to my car to get home and get some work done. What limited your ability to perform faster: Only been training again for less than a month. So current physical shape and sinus issue. Event comments: I was very happy with todays race. I wasn't expecting this much for such a small event. I also ranked 5th in my AG. The highest I previously ranked was 9th at Rough Riders 5k which was my sub 30 race. Time to get back to training and break 30 for a 5k, maybe I'll get it done at Miles for Moffit. Last updated: 2008-03-17 12:00 AM

Woke up, double checked my stuff. Ate a banana and took my water.
10 minute walk to packet pick up, 10 minute back to drop stuff off to car, and 10 minute back to startline. On my way back, I heard an announcement for chips. I didn't realize this was a chip timed event. Very impressed for it being such a small race.
