Pre-race routine:

Woke up had a pb & J and got in the car stoped for coffee and drove to get my chip. Had a powerbar and part of a gel and found the potty.
Event warmup:

Went to the potty twice than the line got too long so a couple of us ran for a while until we found a suitable place to pee and ran back. I seeded myself around 8min pace and got ready to go.

Comments:

I think I ran about to my training right now. The first mile was fast (7:18) and then I settled in to a good pace. Around mile 4 I meet up with a guy I beat two weeks ago in the Duathlon. We talked and ran for next few miles than he said he was going to pick it up. I went with him for about a mile and I just could't keep the pace. I slowed and tried to recover. I took a gel at about 8 miles and it didn't sit well but I pushed on. My plan was to push the last two miles hard to see what I could do. That didn't happen! I think the mile I tried to stay with the other guy burned me and I didn't have it in me to push.

All in all I has happy with my race. I wanted to just see what I could do.
What would you do differently?:

Run my race and not try to stay with someone else.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to get some food and water and to my car for my phone. Walked back up a hill to see some of my buddies running the full make their turn. Hung aroud to watch others finish and cheer them on.

One of my buddies ran a 2:58 marathon! Boston here he comes (again)!

Event comments:

1st year of this race and they had 1400 athletes so I think they did a good job!
