![]() Run
Comments: The run went well. I had very losw expectations just 2 weeks after Little Rock Marathon, plus my knee had been a little sore form riding this week. My goal was to run 7:40 aveage pace, which would have been a PR. I knew the first mile felt fast, and so I sloweed down a bit on Mile 2. It was still too fast, but it felt good, so I thought I would try to hold a 7:15-7:20 pace for as long as i could. I hit the half way timer at 47:25, and was still feeling good nad thought I might could break 1:35. The next could of miles felt good and so I just stuck it out. I really wanted to go sub7 for the last mile, but I caught up with a group of 4 runneers that I had been behind all day and passed them. Nobody passed me after the 5 miles mark that I could remember. I finished strong with a negative split. I was very tired, but I really think I could have held a 7:15 pace for aother 2 or 3 miles if I needed to. I was very pleased with this race. What would you do differently?: nothing. The weather was nice and cool. I still stopped and walked while drinking at 3 stops, never more than 7 or 8 seconds, though, and I didn't aspirate so it was worth it. I skipped the last water stop and it all qorked out well for me. ![]() Post race
Warm down: walked back to the car quickly - had to get to church What limited your ability to perform faster: I couldn't have gone much faster Event comments: Things went smoothly. Plenty of volunteers, plenty of water/HEED at the stops. No complaints about the race itself Last updated: 2008-03-17 12:00 AM
