ate a gu and a cliff bar...

added HEED to my water bottle...

Comments:

Great race course...lots of technical riding. Beautiful area...and amazing people!
What would you do differently?:

Ride my mountain bike more! ride the bike that I borrowed a little more...to get used to the gears.

DRINK MORE WATER...time to buy another camel bak.

Post race
Warm down:

Warm down...no warm down...stop and talk to the other racers at the finish...hang to see who what girls will be comimg in behind me. Went and got my glass and headed to the brew tent! YUMMY BEER! is that hydrating? cuz if so, I hydrated a lot!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

MY LEGS...I do not think I had any on the second loop! NO LEGS!! WHAT DE????

More water! I lost my camel bak somewhere and was depending on feed/water stations and my mere lonely water bottle...Hate reaching for it while racing...so I do not drink much of it...more just the water station waters! NOT GOOD! need to hydrate more!

I seem to want to start out to fast and sometimes do not have the legs needed to finish...this is what I felt I did this race....but still happy with the overall finish.

Event comments:

This is race is put on by a small mountain bike club and they do an AWESOME JOB! this is the 20th year they have done it...and they do know what to do...this year is the first year they used chips for finishing and it worked like a charm! results were posted really quickly...with little or no protests....Awards and Raffle were on time....great staging area with lots of vendors and food tents. WAY FUN! look forward to 2009~

This is a really tough cross country...lots of uphill...lots of sandy turns with rocky roll overs....the back side has a SCREAMING downhill and then there is that darn steep PEARL HARBOR RODE CLIMB!...SUX! especially on the second loop! Love the last little stretch into the staging area...lots of rolling hills on a fast little singletrack trail...WAY TOO MUCH FUN! why can't the whole race be like this!? ;) Elevation gain of 1309 feet per loop...so ttl elevation of 2600ft.... beautiful course and the day is gorgeous compared to the day before when I got snowed on while waiting to race the downhill and while I was helping with the Awards Ceremony and Raffle.....love the sun!!!! it is keeping us much warmer! and I did not have to wear all that winter gear for the race...in shorts and jersey only! no jacket.
