Swim
Comments: What a horrible swim. The frigid water temps really took my air out. by the first bouy I was out of breath and could not get it back. People were being pulled from the water left and right out of every wave. I gave serious thought to quiting in the water too. The biggest thing that kept me from it was knowing quiting would only prolong my 57 degree water experience. The power boat races on the other side of the island caused the calm water to begin to churn. By the time I cleared the second bouy we were fighting 2-foot swells. I couldn't even backstroke without nearly drowining. This horrible time and I was still in the middle of my water coming out! What would you do differently?: Practice OWS in the winter? LOL Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good T1. Better than I thought it was. I really took my time and tried not to puke from the dizziness. I LOVE the singlet fro getting through transitions. I just saw the pics Keesha took of me in T1; I really need to loose the belly. I'm getting really fat. What would you do differently?: Nadda Bike
Comments: The time I recorded is a little off. I forgot to hit the lap timer going over the timing mat so the official time will be less and I will corect it when I have the official splits. The bike was very hard this year because of the strong 15 to 20 MPH headwinds up the hill on the way out. The wind was still going strong on the way back though. The steep downhills were great. I loved pedaling through the left bank downhill at 35 MPH and taking a guy on the inside! It was great to see USAT officials on course actually DQing groups of drafters! Of course when they pulled up to DQ the trio I was about to pass the stopped in front of me and blocked me on their motorcycle! What would you do differently?: I still need more hills. Transition 2
Comments: Again this time is a bit short because of my lap timer mistake. OK transition. What would you do differently?: Nadda Run
Comments: This was an aweful run. the XTERRA style beach run sapped me in the first .5 mile. I was still sucking air and could not get my HR to settle down. I did a lot of walking all over the course. I realized my time at the start and just put it in my head to finish the course. What would you do differently?: I need to up my total training hours and loose 20 pounds. Post race
Warm down: water, water and In&Out What limited your ability to perform faster: My weight. Event comments: I placed this as a good race for me becuase it really showed me all my shortcomings. I can re-focus my efforts at loosing weight. Last updated: 2008-03-19 12:00 AM

Trying not to panic about the 57 degree water.
