Swim
Comments: I hate my wetsuit because it chokes me. Once I was able to ignore that and swim, everything went well. Since I'm a back of the packer, I didn't get swum over and just kept a nice steady pace. A first for me was that this was the first ow race that I didn't have to stop at any point to look around and see where the bouy was or take a breath or flip over or whatever. I swam start to finish. Yea for me! What would you do differently?: Just need to get speedier, but a decent pace for me and 7000 times better than last years swim! Transition 1
Comments: This includes a run up to T1. I wasn't working too hard on being fast, just being thorough. Would have like a little better time, but I'm satisfied. What would you do differently?: Be faster Bike
Comments: This is the fastet avg speed I've ever had on a race and it felt awesome! My bike computer stopped working about a mile in so I hade no idea of distance or speed. I knew I just had to work really hard. I was very pleased with the result. Being in the last wave of swimmers, there were plenty of people in front of me so I got to do some passing. My favorite was passing younger people. I got into a back and forth with a 41 year old dude that kept me challenged and in the end I beat him. Woohoo! I knew that because I was pushing so hard that I was messing up my run, but I really wanted to see how hard I could go. I was super pleased with this ride. What would you do differently?: Nothin' Transition 2
Comments: Got off the bike and KNEW that the run was gonna suck... Walked as quickly as I could in, switched shoes and headed out. Kinda took my time, trying to get my legs under me again. What would you do differently?: Be faster, and worry about getting the legs back on the 1st part of the run. Run
Comments: Wow, it took me a good 1/2 mile to get any kind of pace and it was so DANG HOT!!!! I caught up to Sue (PTinVA) and we walked and ran a little together then I started feeling pretty decent. Honestly I really need about a mile to really, really get in a groove. Which isn't great when it's only a 3 mile run. Anyway, it wasn't a great run, but it wasn't terrible either. What would you do differently?: ???? Maybe not push on the bike so hard? But I really wanted to see what I could do. So this time, nothing. Post race
Warm down: No water when I crossed the finish line!!! I was scrounging the empty baby pool for ice. Really? thats not good, especially on a day like today. So this was an awesome race. I beat last years time by 10 minutes ( the swim was 100 meters shorter, but my pace was still alot better). I shaved off 15 sec from T1, over 2 min from the bike, and over 2 min on the run. It was a great way to start the season:) Event comments: Everything was great. I always think Setup does a good job. I do have issues though with not having water at the finish line. Thats just not cool (no pun intended). Last updated: 2008-03-22 12:00 AM

I started waking up every 15-20 minutes somewhere around 3, finally got up at 4:40 I smeared pb, honey and sliced banana on a tortilla and rolled it up to eat on the road. Also started drinking right away. Sue (PTinVA) and I got all our stuff loaded up and headed out. We were in the parking lot by 5:20.
Walking 3/4 from the parking lot to the transition area. I tried mightily to finish my "wrap" but early morning breakfast's just don't agree with me. Got transition set-up, met up with friends, got body marked. Since jelly fish had been spotted and I don't do jelly fish I wore my wetsuit and coated my arms, feet and neck in jelly fish repellant. Then it was time!
