Swim
Comments: I did pretty well for my very first race swim. It took about 150 meters for me to figure out the rhythm of swimming with so many other people around, and rounding the first buoy was a learning experience. But I was proud of myself because I'm not that great a swimmer, and I didn't get passed in the water by anyone in the next wave (which started 4 minutes after my wave). Transition 1
Comments: Everything in the transition area was soaked because of the storms before the race started, so it took a bit longer to get my socks and shoes on, but all in all, I was pretty happy with the transition Bike
Comments: I discovered that drinking gatorade during the race upset my stomach. Luckily I had bottles of just water also. What would you do differently?: Drink more water. Transition 2
Comments: Not too bad. Run
Comments: My achilles tendon was killing my whenever I ran. Shooting pains from the ankle into the calf. So I walked all except maybe half a mile. I walk fast, but I was still really disappointed that I couldn't run more. Post race
Warm down: Walking and stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: My achilles tendon. Event comments: The weather delayed the start of the race, which threw off the schedule, but everything was well run and the volunteers were fabulous. Last updated: 2008-03-25 12:00 AM

I have achilles tendonitis that has been getting steadily worse for the last couple of weeks, so Advil was my friend in the morning. I drank lots of water, some gatorade, and tried not to throw up from nervousness.
Literally 1 minute before the race was supposed to start, Huge black clouds blew in with lightening, thunder, and rain. My family and I walked about half a mile to a cafe to wait out the storm and then walked back. That and some stretching was pretty much my whole warm up.
