Swim
Comments: Decent swim...I was not donig good enough long strokes...nearly breathing every two strokes. I could have definitely of gone faster. My wave was made up of men and women in the 25-29 age group. So lots of men's big feet in the face--I should have swimmed through/past a lot of that. But I did round the buoys pretty well & tried to get a pretty good angle out to the first set of double buoys. What would you do differently?: Swim a bit harder, less breaths Transition 1
Comments: I tried to rush...though I was feeling the urge to slow down...I got a new aerodrink system...but of course hadn't properly set it up and that will save me the time I usually take to get a shot of gatorade...as I pulled out the bottle fell off my bike...so that was bad and as I ran to jump on my bike...I had to slow down a minute to catch my balance...(Conservative guess on Transition times--since overall bike time was listed as 40:58:00 & includes both T1&T2-I guess--as other racers are saying) What would you do differently?: I have to have the aerodrink in place...I have to put my gloves on faster--if at all & I have to practice having my shoes clipped in (that will be hard to practice/learn but surely worth it. Bike
Comments: the bike was good...but I was bumping my self out of the low gears a bit too often...and I was playing back and forth with a bunch of riders around me...I definitely need to push harder...also I am not sure if my bike computer is calbrated correctly since its recent battery change...so have to fix that and I have to have the computer moved for the aerodrink to go in the right spot. What would you do differently?: I was in and out of the aerobars and I need to stay in those longer--they really help me push...some turns could have been a bit faster...I have to pay better attention to my cadence and speed & not just look at the mileage Transition 2
Comments: I was pretty good about the dismount...and I ran with the bike...though I was at the very end of the Transition area...which I sometimes like because I'm right next to the exit...but now I think very beginning is good because you don't have to run pre transition...but its pretty much luck of the draw due to your #...I was good on the show switch...and slapped my race belt on fast and ran with my hat... What would you do differently?: The race belt is not such a great thing...I have to place it low...I hate putting holes in my suit...but I may have to put my number on the middle of me pre-swim...rather than have to keeping pulling the race belt down...or else maybe i can tighten the racebelt up under my chest. I will work that out... Run
Comments: Wow, my run is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow!!! I can't believe how much I cannot run!!! Well, I didn't stop once to walk and that is huge for me...but wow...what a SLOW jog I was doing..it was just crazy... almost wonder if I am better off sprinting as much as possible and then power walking in between...it would probably be much faster...every single person was passing me...I lost SOOO much time on the run...people were nearly walking past me...plus anyone who walked would then proceed to pass me and we are talking people much bigger and much smaller than me!! What would you do differently?: TRAIN MORE FOR MY RUN!!! OK...so I'm not a runner...I'm a swimmer...I hold my own on the bike...and I can't run...hence sprint tri's are my home...but I have to train...time to start using my heart rate monitor and stay in the right zone/percentage so I can pick up some speed Post race
Warm down: Slow walk around...before breaking down my stuff and bringing it back to the car...needed some more stretching... What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training...I'll get there... Event comments: Great race...especially for first of the season (for me) and for newbies out there...I think this will become my staple for the season... There was also an amazing ceremony with a moment of silence and wreath release in the water for a former racer/trainer who recently passed away due to brain cancer and that was something different...but also a great thing that the race organizers accomplished. A lot of people raced...its really an amazing thing...and its definitely given me a good push for the rest of the season...now onto Webster this coming weekend! Last updated: 2008-03-27 12:00 AM

Dinner the night before was a failed pasta-carb attempt at Olive Garden. Let's say I had a fondue appetizer that should have never entered the mix!
Must have pre-race breakfast of one slice of bread with peanut butter, a banana, and water (I've been playing with whether I want orange juice in the morning at night)
I got in the water, with only a few minutes to spare--so just got wet really. I should have stretched more
