Run
Comments: This was my first ever 100 mile untramarathon and from what experienced ultrarunners tell me I did very well just to finish and my time was also very good for a first timer. All in all I was happy with my run. I had a dream of going under 24 hours but actually my honest prediction was somewhere between 26 and 27 hours so I think I was right on and if I would have taken care of my feet better I would have been closer to the 24 - 25 hour range. What would you do differently?: I really made some bad mistakes regarding my foot care. For some reason I did not use a lubricant or foot powder even though I took the time to tape my feet. I have used these before but for some reason it just didn't occur to me. The blisters began forming under my tape job so they were not visible until they were huge and many and even though I could tell my feet were hurting I did not have my tape job removed to look under the tape. By the time I tried to do something you could see the blisters even though they were under thick tape and the blisters were so deep that most of them could not be drained with the tools at hand so I just had to gut it out for th efinal 16 miles as best as I could. Post race
Warm down: I immediatly went to my hotel room and layed on the bed but was so sore that I wasn't really able to sleep much. What limited your ability to perform faster: Blisters, inexperience Event comments: This was my first 100 mile ultra so I don't have anything to compare it to but it seemed well done to me. I think it is probably a very good first 100 miler because the trail is easy by ultra standards. Last updated: 2008-03-27 12:00 AM

Just ate breakfast, nothing real big because I knew I would be eating on the course.
Are you kidding?! How do you "warm up" for a 100 mile run?
