Swim
Comments: I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS SWIM! I don't know my actual pace because of the uncertainty of the distance, but I am thrilled that I was actually in the middle of the pack, and I did freestyle 90% of the time. I felt relaxed and comfortable breathing and did not hyperventilate one bit. I did a little breast stroke here and there to give myself a break and to take a look around, but then I always went right back into freestyle. This was the first time doing freestyle where I felt like I could have kept going and going. KICK ASS!!! What would you do differently?: Get more experience in group OWS, as I tend to come to a dead stop every time someone kicks or bumps me. I want to get better at just ignoring them and continuing. Some stroke/stride or dip/dash races are definitely in order for July! Transition 1
Comments: Dilly-dallying in transition again. What would you do differently?: I need to practice transitions more! Bike
Comments: I did ok, but I know I have more in me than this performance indicates. I'm such a beginner biker that I really don't know when to attack and when to take it easy. I don't know how to handle hills AT ALL. I was trying to keep a comfortable pace, but I think I should have been hurrying more...I just didn't know what pace I could maintain and still have legs for the run, so I was pretty conservative. What would you do differently?: Get more time in the saddle. Practice on the course. ATTACK MORE! Transition 2
Comments: I have no idea what I was doing in T2 for almost 3 minutes. I do remember that I was about to leave and I decided to reach in my saddle bag and to get a gel packet, which I consumed and chased with water while I stood at the bike rack. Having a gel was probably a good idea overall, but hmmm...maybe I should think these things through ahead of time and not stand around eating in T2? What would you do differently?: Practice transitions more. Have a nutrition plan. Run
Comments: I was very hot and ended up walking a lot. I felt a little sick from the gel at first, but it probably helped me overall. Mostly I was just happy to see lots of other folks on the course, which meant that I wasn't going to be at the very back of the pack! What would you do differently?: HTFU. It's a race, not a can-you-survive-the-course test. Post race
Warm down: Got a massage; stretched a little bit What limited your ability to perform faster: Biking inexperience; transitions; mental toughness on the run Event comments: Race results took over a day to be posted, and the numbers seem off on some of their calculations... Plus they didn't post overall rankings. I would like to get a sense of how I did against the whole pack. Last updated: 2008-03-27 12:00 AM

Rode my bike for about 10 minutes...came back to find that someone had squeezed his bike into my spot and tried to take the end of the bike rack primo spot. Think again, buddy! There's a reason I got there early.
I stretched a bit and talked to a couple guys from my tri class. I was early enough that it was pretty chill.
