Pre-race routine:

Long drive to the race. It didn't start until 10 which was good. The temp should have been in the 60's but we had a heat wave that day and it was in the 80's
Event warmup:

None.
Run
  • 4h 49m 12s
  • 25 kms
  • 11m 34s  min/km
Comments:

Some of the single track was tough at the beg. because there were so many people and they were walking. It took a lot of effort to jog around them. Later it wasn't so crowded. Running the downhill turned my legs to jello.
What would you do differently?:

Position myself more towards the front of the group and maybe not get caught in the congestion in the first part of the trail.

Drink more...at one point I had the chills and had stopped sweating. It was extremely hot for that time of the year. My fingers were very swollen.
Post race
Warm down:

Eat, drink, try to find some shade.
This isn't advertised as a race so they don't do AG classifications. Just overall man and woman.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough mtn training, didn't drink enough water during the event. I filled my camel back, 150 oucnes three times and drank water at the aid stations.

Event comments:

Very well organized. I would like to try it again and train better for the mtns.
