Pre-race routine:

Tried to relax the day before the races, that didn't happen. Tried to get a good night sleep, that also didn't happen. I was up by 4:20 am tried to eat some oatmeal, and toast with peanut butter. Really had a hard time keeping it down I was so nervous.
Event warmup:

I ran to the car which was a half mile away or so, and walked back. Got a good sweat going. And did a lil warm up in the water.
Swim
  • 32m 47s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

For the limited open water swimming I have done today went pretty well. I have done 2 aquathlons and some ows as of late to prepare for this race. It really helped huge difference from my first ows. My sighting was pretty good. Not very good at the drafting but whatever. Ended up catching a few people from the 2 waves in front of me though a few from the wave after caught me.
What would you do differently?:

Gotta get stronger. My back and shoulders got tired.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Talk about a long run to T1. There are no times for transitions unfortunately. I pride myself on fast transitions though and I know I was in and out. The run to T1 was so long, I guess that time is included in my swim.
What would you do differently?:

Took me 2 tries to get my helmet on as I had just bought it the day before.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 59s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.62 mile/hr
Comments:

I love the bike this is easily my best of the 3 events. I ended up buying an aero helmet the day before the race. Passed alot of people on the ride and was only passed by a few of the really good cyclists.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the bike. Things came up here and there and did not allow me to be on the bike as much as I would like. So my neck and lower back got pretty stiff. Looking at my place on the bike I am a little upset, but I know I went into this with not a lot of cycling of late and still did relatively well.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again no times for the transitions so I guess my T2 is part of my bike ride.
What would you do differently?:

Use a brighter towel. I missed my rack spot at first though it only cost me a few seconds. But again, in and out no wasted time.
Run
  • 58m 39s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I really hate running and I suck at it. I can't even tell you how many people passed me. I only passed a handful of people. Quite embarassing. Look at my age group ranking, pathetic, and my overall rank, even worse. I really need to run more.
What would you do differently?:

I could say run more but it never seems to make a difference. I will still get passed though no matter how much I train, I'm just not good at it. But I will train more. I DID NOT WALK THOUGH. I refuse.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a little and the hamstrings cramped on me. I ate some bananas and some oranges. I brought some Endurox and had that as well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I suck at running. I need to train more in each event but def. the runnning. Will continue to swim and get better. More TITS will help as well.

Event comments:

I love the race and think anyone in the area should sign up. Lots of volunteers, racers were all friendly.
