Pre-race routine:

Met Sarah at her house and biked to start of Triathlon. Cityfitness led a group warmup which was really neat, got everyone laughing.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 122 meters
  • / 100 meters
Comments:

the swim was nuts. It was last as the Tri was in reverse order. thelanes were packed and on the last lap I wasn't able to get a push off the end of the pool and two or three people who weren't swimming as fast as me got past me anyway :-(
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 00m
  • 14 kms
  • 0.00 km/hr
Comments:

I rocked on the bike! passed over 100 people. I was borrowing Sarah's MTB. It's a new Trek and after months of slogging away on my borrowed department store bike it felt like absolute gold. I was going at least 45Km down the valley, was even able to keep up with Sarah on her new road bike for most of the way.
What would you do differently?:

I still need to get fitter, I hitthe wall about halfway up nile st. and that lasted for about a Km before I got my second wind
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

this, because of the reverse order, was the transition between bike and swim and it knocked me for a six. my legs felt like jelly, my knee was stiff, and it was at least 500m between racking the bike and the pool. I could barely move my legs.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on transitions off the bike cause this threw me a bit on the last tri.
Run
  • 00m
  • 2.5 kms
  •  min/km
Comments:

I had to change to the walk because of injuring my knee. I thought I waked pretty fast, but I had no idea... everyone just streamed past me. I finished in the bottom fifth of the walk group. I always knew that running was my weakness, but I never thought that I was so slow at walking as well. live and learn I guess
What would you do differently?:

train, train, and train some more (well, after the physio says it ok of course ;-))
Post race
Warm down:

put on dry clothes, walked back to the bike and biked back to Sarah's house

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't drink enough. I need to start using my camelback cause I just don't use a bottle even if I have one

Event comments:

Great day, had heaps of fun, will definitley enter next year (and blow this years time out of the water!) The only gripe I have is the distance between the bike and the swim and the fact that after you take your shoes off for the swim you have to walk over gravel to get to the pool (ow!)
