Run
Comments: John ran with me for the 1st mile, then backed off... alot. Had garmin forerunner 405 training partner set for a 6:40 pace.... I kept in front of him the whole time. I could've probably sprinted a lot more the last half mile, once on the base, but my HR was 185, and I kept thinking of the 29 yr old guy that was in great shape that died at the finish line last year... it wasn't worth it to get a 1:05:00.... I already beat my goal of 6:40 pace, and blew away my PR (07 BSR= 6:44 pace). I carried an 8oz flask of 5 droppers of creatine/gatorade mixture). Sipped every couple miles, threw out before mile 8. drank around 1/4 cup of gatorade endurance around mile 8. Splashed water on me every couple stops past mile 6. What would you do differently?: Not play 2 hours of kickball, barefoot, with the kids the night before. Post race
Warm down: stretched, drank 2 cups gatorade endurance, bottle of water, ate PHL pretzel, banana, got free body fat analysis: 8.8%... thought would be lower since right after race.... waited around for John, didn't see him, so walked to car with Ski & he was there already. What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing. I'm steadily improving. Perhaps more speedwork over 1/2 mile intervals. Event comments: Nice Race, Philly! Last updated: 2008-03-31 12:00 AM

Woke 4:45, dressed, drank gatorade/race day boost, ate banana. went to Wawa, got 20oz coffee and powerbar.
Sticked legs (sore calves), and BioFreezed the calves. got on train at 6:30 to the start. jogged around track once, stretched. Took creatine/hammer gel/salt/enduralyte mix too soon (1hr prior), started getting light headed... was fine during race though. Wore large black trash bag waiting around at the track. Lines started getting long at the portopots the closer to start it got. Used my patented "pee in a used 20oz coffee cup under the black trash bag" method only once at the track. Threw bag off immediately before entering corral where nearby body heat was enough.
