Swim
Comments: Pretty happy with swim, felt smooth and concentrated on breathing and long strokes, felt great getting out of water. What would you do differently?: More drafting andwork on sighting exit for swim Transition 1
Comments: Still need to get tri specific bike shoes Bike
Comments: Tried not to push too hard on bike, wanted to save for the run and it paid off this time, drank 1 and 3/4 bottles of water and 1/2 bottle of gatorade on ride. had 1 gel at 4km, 1 at 20km, and 1 at 38km. Had plenty in tank at end of ride, need to go a little harder next time and see if I can hold run time still. Last 4km was at higher cadence in lower gear. What would you do differently?: Nothing really Transition 2
Comments: Had a good transition, noticed Marko's bike on rack, we've raced a lot over the past 2 years, he got a 5min start on me with a great swim, I picked up 2min on the ride, so I had to have a good run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Had the best run of my life, went out 1st km in 3m 45s, found this makes 4min/km pace feel easier. kept 4min pace going, had gel at 5km, caught Marko at 7km point, still feeling great, hit 8km point at 33m18s, pushed HR up from 181 to 184 for final 3km and still had enough to put in an effort at the finish line, best feeling in the world to have a run beyond what I expected. What would you do differently?: Nothing, maybe try to push 180Hr all the way next time, 1st 5km was at 177 Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and water melon with Silver Streak and caught up with some members of redcliffe tri club, then headed down to surf with my 2 girls and had a relaxing swim, what a fantastic venue for a race, heaps of room and great course. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing today, it all came together, some swim work during the off season so I dont spend my race chasing. Event comments: Lovin Mooloolaba, cant wait to return next year and lap up a great weekend of racing and spectating the world cup. Last updated: 2008-03-31 12:00 AM

Stayed with the SIlver Streaks on Saturday night, had a relaxing night, bit of an afternoon nap and then cooked a chicken and rice stirfry for dinner. Woke at 4.30am and had 3 muffins spread with one whole banana, race start was at 7.32am, drank 500ml of gatorade between now and 1hr before start, also took 400ml water with me to start, sipped and then drank the last 300ml 2min before start.
The water was just perfect, no wind and temp was a little cool, all good. Didnt really do a warm up, used first 200m of swim to get up to pace.
