Pre-race routine:

I woke up relatively calm which surprised me. I ate a bowl of Rice Krispies and couple bits of bagel. I was too nervous to eat and afraid of running with a full stomach. I didn't drink a lot that morning which I think was good 'cause I didn't want to have to pee to much.
Event warmup:

I didn't really warm up unless you count crying at the starting line warming up. I always cry 'cause of nerves.

Comments:

I ran the whole race with Kritin. The run was hard. The first couple of miles felt pretty good, but I was pretty anxious about pushing it too hard and blowing up at the end. I fell apart right around City Hall (mile 5.5). I actually stopped running once we hit City Hall to catch my breath. Then we walked around the building. On the far side of the building I started to cry again (see warm-up) and told K "I don't think I want to do this anymore". K said "That's not really an option. Not running is an option, but it's shorter to go forward than to go back so let's keep moving forward. Do you need to eat something?" She was right. I totally screwed up nutrition for the race. Once I had some gatorade and high fived the governor (Ed Rendell was on the side of the road high fiving folks - I love that guy!) I was definitely feeling better.

Once I got to mile 8 I had blisters on the bottom of my right foot, but I knew I was going to finish. By mile 9 I knew I'd beat my initial goal of breaking two hours and if I kept up I'd break 1:50. I really wanted to run the final mile and was able to do that.

My watch is not working and that was frustrating. It wasn't keeping the splits and didn't connect with the GPS.
What would you do differently?:

Eat more before the race and learn to incorporate GU into my life. That's my goal this summer as well as put more miles and more experience on my legs.

I'm not sure acting as the race director for the Westtown team helped me have the best race of all time. I spent A LOT of time the week before chasing folks down for information and money as well as worrying about details. Folks here have already emailed me to ask me what/when is the next race. I'm not sure I'm ready to throw myself into that much responsibility again. We'll see.....
Post race
Warm down:

After the race we met the rest of the Westtown folks in the "family meeting area". All 25 folks who ran from Westtown finished the race and successfully found the meeting area (one of my biggest worries was getting everyone back on the bus.) We had to walk about 2 miles to meet the school bus and got stuck in traffic on the way home. That wasn't much fun, but once back on campus my friend (with Mitch's help) had a party set up for us. Cold beer and cokes and burgers and dogs were GOOD!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition (lack of)

Event comments:

They were organized except in the food tent. I thought Kristin was going to have a smack down while waiting for the bags of food to arrive.
