![]() Swim
Comments: Weeds, weeds, and more weeds... This swim went so much better than the Buffalo tri! I started in the very last wave of the event. The race had special waves for novice triathletes (if this was your first season you were a novice). The men's novice was second to last and the women's novice was last. I think I was second or third out of the water in the women's novice (I even passed some people in the wave ahead of me!). I felt strong the whole time, did a much better job with siting and was very happy with the results. I think the time included quite a long run to the transition area since there was no timing mat on the beach, so my time/100yd is slightly elevated. In the swim I was 6th in my age group and I finished 5th in my age group. My swim is catching up to the other events, woot! What would you do differently?: Keep working at it :) ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Oh man, this was horrible. I struggled really hard to get my wet suit off! I knew this transition was slow during the race and the results confirmed it. The four women that beat me in my AG all had T1s at least 1 minute faster. Now that my second race is over if I'm gonna get serious about my times I gotta start working on this transition thing! What would you do differently?: Practice taking my wet suit off...it got caught on my timing chip. ![]() Bike
Comments: Hmm, wanted to average above 20 mph. Oh well. Just didn't have the legs. Happy with my placement in my AG though. My bike computer said 13.6 miles when I got done the bike and I had specifically made sure to zero out my computer when I racked my bike, course may have been a hair long. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: This transition was better than T1. Can probably cut off 15 to 20 seconds with some practice. ![]() Run
Comments: The run was flat as a pancake. Legs were stiff for about the first 1/2 mile. If the mile marker signs were correct my miles were 8:08, 7:52, and 8:18. I actually felt strongest the last mile, go figure. Wanted to be sub 8 min pace but am very happy with the nice consistent pace I ran throughout. What would you do differently?: Definitely need to throw in a few more brick workouts, especially for sprints. By the time your legs get going the race is over! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Ate the post race food and hung out. Event comments: This race was great. There were loads of beginners in the race. They even have special awards for the novice division. I got first in the women's novice 24 to 29 age group so I got a sweet beer mug and some organic coffee, not too shabby :) Last updated: 2008-04-02 12:00 AM
