Swim
Comments: well.. I know I'm not the greatest swimmer.. but this was going to be fine.. I seed myself in the middle and went.. and then.. about half way through the swim, my suit's zipper broke open .. I started taking on water like the Titanic.. it felt like I was swimming in concrete, pulling 4 people with me.. other people were pretty cool I didnt get kicked, or punched .. but damn.. my time was shot by like 8 - 10 mins.. What would you do differently?: well.. hopefully get stronger in the swim.. figure out why my zipper opened.. usual stuff.. Transition 1
Comments: transition was good.. i was glad I remembered some extra water and towels for my feet.. felt like transition was taking a long time.. but hey What would you do differently?: nothing really .. everything was laid out perfectly.. Bike
Comments: had a great bike.. I didnt know the course, so the first lap was tentative, looking at the road, hills, turns.. the second loop was vastly different.. on the "giant" hill we had to go up, a girl said to me "race ya to the top" I said "ok" got out of my saddle and never looked back.. it was the kick I needed.. I must have passed 10 people after that .. the last 5 miles were great.. What would you do differently?: maybe do the course before the race Transition 2
Comments: this was better.. maybe think about Yanks laces.. or something .. I do need new trainers and runners.. Run
Comments: it took about a mile to get my legs back, the run was nice and flat.. through a nice industrial waste section of the marina..I was worried about my calf injuries and didnt blast it out of the gate.. by mile 2 i was ready to run.. i passed a few 40+ y/o guys and said "i'll be in your division next year" got passed by a 11 y/o.. by mile 3 .. I felt like I could go another 3 miles .. Oly's cant be too far away huh ? had a great kick at the end.. and continued running right to the men's restroom What would you do differently?: not much.. I felt great .. maybe work on more calf strength-training.. Post race
Warm down: walked around with my wife.. got my medal .. ate an apple, the peach and banana.. felt real good.. waited to see what was up.. What limited your ability to perform faster: does being old count ? I'm not old.. only 39.. but injuries have side-tracked me.. and this was my first tri of the season - 3rd race.. Event comments: had a great time.. see you guys next year Last updated: 2008-04-04 12:00 AM
