Swim
Comments: Time was not as good as expected based upon prior open water swims. I don't know if it was the cold water or if the course was a bit longer than advertised. What would you do differently?: Focus more on technique and sighting, I started to lift my head up to breathe and sight as I fatigued which I'm sure affected my overall time. Transition 1
Comments: Didn't put shoes on when clipped in. Being my first race I didn't really have the transition down. Bike
Comments: Drank too much. What would you do differently?: Drink less. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Started running out of gas a bit on the run and got some cramps from drinking too much on the bike. This is my weakest event so it didn't surprise me that I had some trouble. What would you do differently?: Drink less on the bike and train harder on the run. Post race
Warm down: Sat with friends and stretched, waited for Sarah to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience. I could have done better in transition, drank less on the bike, and prepared better overall. Event comments: This was my first race so I don't have anything to compare to. I enjoyed it and am planning on doing it again next year if possible. Last updated: 2008-04-05 12:00 AM

Got to the race site nice and early. Downed a banana, got set up and ready to go. Being my first race it was a good idea to get there and get situated before it got too crowded.
Got into the 62 degree water for a 10 minute warm up swim in the wetsuit...great idea. Once the race started I was used to the cold water and had no problem getting going on the swim.
