Swim
Comments: I'm excited that I finished without drowning! This was the first time that I have completed 400m in one session, whew! I was amazed how much my adreneline helped to push me to keep going. Overall, it was fun! What would you do differently?: I probably should have seeded myself a little faster. The snake swim makes it tough to pass. Transition 1
Comments: Since I am riding a mountain bike, I was able to put on my running shoes right after the swim. Also, setting my shoes on one of the benches outside the pool saved a lot of time and I was able to cruise along the path over to my bike. Bike
Comments: I struggled through this section because I was riding my heavy mountain bike. I think I was able to maintain a good pace throughout, but it would have been much better with a lighter bike. The wind on the return leg was rough but I tried to muscle through it figuring that I didn't need to try and leave any legs for the run. (I have a running background so I was banking on being able to run on wobbly legs) Overall, the wind made it challenging but it was still fun! What would you do differently?: GET A ROAD BIKE!!! Transition 2
Comments: Here's where riding a mountain bike has it's advantage, I just had to rack my bike and take off my helmet. And off I ran... Run
Comments: I have never felt so tired trying to run 2 miles! Ouch, saddle-sore. What would you do differently?: Maybe save a little leg strength from the bike for the run. Post race
Warm down: Consisted of hobbling to get my bike and other gear. Then a big meal and a nap. My butt is killing me! What limited your ability to perform faster: Hmm, my lack of swimming ability and my non-appropriate bike. Event comments: This race was organized well and after my first tri, I am hooked. Wow, I am a triathlete :) Last updated: 2008-04-05 12:00 AM

Since this was my first triathlon, I don't have a routine yet. But if getting very little sleep is a good routine, I'm all set. After not sleeping much and getting up at 4:30 due to excitement, I had plenty of time to make sure I had everything I needed. The body-marking, chip-collecting, and transition set-up went a lot smoother than I had anticipated.
Being seeded number 277 for the swim, my warmup consisted of watching a whole lot of other faster swimmers. I think I stretched my arms out for a couple seconds before I started, but I think it was more nervous energy.
