Age Group Rank = 32/65
Pre-race routine:

Rank of all males 254/528

Woke up early and drank 1 bottle of Heed. Choked down a bagle and peanutbutter and a Cliff Bar as well. Stretched a bit with my future nephew in law Nick.
Event warmup:

None really. Stood around in the gym to get out of the cold and then went out to get into the line for the mass start. Waited another 10 minutes as they were having difficulty getting all of us to the start line. Kind of crowded. Gun went off and off we went up the first hill....
Run
  • 2h 01m 13s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Ate four GU gels along the way. (Miles 4,6,8 and 10.) Drank water only with Salt Stick caps ( 5 along the way). NO CRAMPING until a nasty side stitch in the last 1/2 mile from pushing it too hard. Bit of Post Tib. ache in both from the hills.
What would you do differently?:

Add some hills for training.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched more. Two bottles of water and a bottle of HEED with two more Salt caps.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Gravity

Event comments:

Nice first 1/2 Mary of the year. (My first unattached 1/2 Mary as well.) Now the fun working towards IMAZ begins.

Ave HR was 170. Too fast for a "training run" but I really wasn't used to the hills.
