Pre-race routine:

Well we were actually on pace to get there early and have plenty of time until about 6 miles down the road when the vehicle we were in blew a gasket, literally! Frantic calls brought my vehicle and we tore to the race, arriving 15 minutes before the transition area closed. Soooo, like normal we were frenetically trying to set up and get our chip and everything else before the race. Pretty standard for our group now. But it got done and had time to spare.
Event warmup:

Ha, what?
Swim
  • 37m 59s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was by far my toughest swim to date, not because of lack of fitness, although that is always an issue, but because of the wind and waves. Wind kept blowing me off course as well as uprooting the bouys. Swimming in a straight line very difficult.
What would you do differently?:

As always, swim train more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

Used Body Glide for the first time and it really helped slide my suit off. I like it a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to refine and shave time off. I did forget to unbuckle my helmet when i left it on my bike which took a few extra seconds to unsnap.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 4s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.35 mile/hr
Comments:

Wow, what a windy day! A strong headwind with some nice gusts really slowed me going out, but of course there was a nice tailwind coming in. In the end I didn't quite hit my goal of an avg. of 20 mph.
What would you do differently?:

I need to pick up more speed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Everything went smoothly, no real regrets.
What would you do differently?:

Keep refining it to shave time off.
Run
  • 50m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't feel particularly good again, I am really surprised at my time. I once again had cramps in my right hamstring for a quarter mile or so and just didn't feel like i had any kick like i wanted early in the race.
What would you do differently?:

More speed work is needed.
Post race
Warm down:

Little bit of stretching and some pizza!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More consistent speed work.

Event comments:

Third time for this race and it is one of my favorites. Nice woodsy area for the transition, lake swim is fine and bike course is cool as well. Just a well done event.

Course: Excellent course! Start with a run through the campground with lots of shade and a nice soft trail, then on to a dirt road with no traffic. But then you turn left and are staring at "The Hill". Nearly a mile climb with the turnaround at the top! When you first see it it seems to stretch a mighty long ways. I feel i can pace myself on this course because of the differing surfaces. I know where i'm at and how hard to go.
