Swim
Comments: This swim was just bad. As soon as I started, water seeped into my goggles. I was able to pass the person in front of me, but with the water building up in the goggles, I had to stop and re-seal them. When I started back up again, I just could not get back into my groove. I got passed by the man I passed at the start of the swim. I finished without getting passed again. I also didn't like the fact that the people that signed up the morning of the race were told to just cut into the starting line where their estimated time was. This created unnecessary additional confusion and those people should have been put at the end of the line. What would you do differently?: I need a lot more practice with the swim. Better goggles would help as well! My swim time was 36 seconds better than my last sprint! Transition 1
Comments: This transition went okay. Coming out of the pool I was winded and did not run to the transition area. The tri-suit made the transition go a lot better. What would you do differently?: Train more for the swim so I am not as winded when I get out of the pool. Bike
Comments: This ride was okay, I still need more practice on the hills! I have the feeling that if I can get more practice on the hills, I will be able to shave up to 2 minutes off my time! The tri-suit does not have as much padding as my cycling shorts... It's going to take a while to get use to this! What would you do differently?: Again, hydration was a problem on the ride (same as my last sprint) I still don't have the balance to reach my bottle on the seat tube while riding. Practice with this, along with hill training will improve my time! Transition 2
Comments: This transition could have been better. Someone put their bike blocking my spot (on opposite side of the rack) so there was no room for my bike where it was before the ride. I was able to grab my Cliff Shot Blocks before I went out on my run, which helped out a lot. What would you do differently?: I wish the race director would have numbered the bike racks in the transition area, this was just poor planning. Run
Comments: This run was okay, I did get a side stitch about a half mile into the run. I did have my camel-bak with me so I was able to stay hydrated. I feel that I did not push myself hard enough on this run, I am sure that I could have done it faster. I was able to sprint the last 200 yards to the finish line. What would you do differently?: Drink more water before the race (instead of a large coffee from Dunkins)! Post race
Warm down: Stretching, shower and lots of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just like two weeks ago, lack of training with the hills limited my ability to perform faster! Event comments: I like the area that this race was held in, but I don't know if I would participate again next year. I didn't think that this race was organized very well. The people that signed up the morning of the race were told to cut into the swim starting line near their estimated start time, they should have been put at the end to avoid any additional confusion. Also, it was a total free for all in the transition area. There were no designated spots for each race number. I returned from the bike to find someone had their bike blocking my spot making it difficult to transition to the run. For the cost of the entrance fee, frankly, I expected more. I was planning on participating in the Lowell Mill City Triathlon, but since it is put on by the same company, I am reconsidering it. Last updated: 2008-04-11 12:00 AM
