Swim
Comments: I was really hoping for a faster swim this year. Not quite sure what happened except that I started farther to the front and had a lot of contace, lots of hitting and kicking, nothing major but fairly distracting. My navigational skills have eroded over the winter and the water was very murky. What would you do differently?: Start a little farther to the side and try to avoid the worst of the crowd. Improve technique and navigation. Transition 1
Comments: There is quite a long hike up a big hill to T1 and I had to walk it this year, had planned to jog but it just wasn't happnin for me. Suit hung up on heels, forgot Bodyglide. It really didn't go too badly, just slowish. What would you do differently?: Bodyglide on my ankles! Jog up the hill. Bike
Comments: This was a tough ride! Uphill out and apparently, I'm not in riding shape just yet. Tried hard to ride a good steady pace though so I'd have something left for the run. Wet all the way and raining part of the way. Dirty bike now! What would you do differently?: More miles early in the season. Guess that means more time on the trainer too. Transition 2
Comments: This went a little better though I was kind of shakey trying to get shoes on. Wet feet didn't help here at all and cold fingers too. Everything was wet by now and that didn't help. Just tried to stay calm and get everything off and on. What would you do differently?: not much Run
Comments: My big goal here was to have saved enough energy to be able to run the whole run. Always in the past, I ride fast and ended up walking but ran everything except the aid stations. Tried Infinit for run fuel mixed in a 1 hr little amphipod bottle, a sip of concentrate and a cup of water at aid stations. It worked pretty well. My pace is slowly speeding up so I was pretty happy overall. What would you do differently?: Run lots! Post race
Warm down: Walked around, ate a pce of orange and drank some water. Watched C-did finish, walked around some more. What limited your ability to perform faster: Long cold winter kept me indoors off the bike and I paid for that today. Event comments: This is a great early season race and a fun way to start out the season. I'd like to get more of our team members to come. Volunteers were great and it was a well organized event. I'll be back next year, gotta break 3 hrs!! Last updated: 2008-04-11 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:45am, made coffee and a pb&j sandwich. Packed gear and bike into truck and drove to C-cic's house, she did the driving today. A 3 hr drive to Walla Walla. Set up Transition, hit the pp and put on wetsuit in the rain, this was difficult.
Swam about 100 yds, easy, just getting used to the water
